About
Our research
REFUGOV is a research endeavour investigating the ways reception facilities for refugees are managed in various contexts around the world
REFUGOV is made up of an experimented research team studying the entanglement of local and global dynamics in the management of refugee camps and reception centres in several case studies
REFUGOV has benefitted from 2018 to 2021 from the support of the National Research Fund Luxembourg (FNR) and was based at the University of Luxembourg
Research aims
According to the UNHCR, more than 80 million people are forcibly displaced worldwide. Several million of them are accommodated in reception facilities (refugee camps, reception centres). Against this background, REFUGOV aims to better understand refugee reception processes around the globe.
More specifically:
REFUGOV investigates the management of reception facilities by (re)placing them in their local environments, while at the same time considering that local dynamics are relationally constituted by – and constituting – global flows and networks in refugee reception processes
REFUGOV establishes a global dialogue in the study of the management of reception facilities for refugees, through the presentation of its research results, its publications, its news, the organisation of an international academic conference in 2021, and a photo exhibition.
