Research aims

According to the UNHCR, more than 80 million people are forcibly displaced worldwide. Several million of them are accommodated in reception facilities (refugee camps, reception centres). Against this background, REFUGOV aims to better understand refugee reception processes around the globe.

More specifically:

REFUGOV investigates the management of reception facilities by (re)placing them in their local environments, while at the same time considering that local dynamics are relationally constituted by – and constituting – global flows and networks in refugee reception processes

REFUGOV establishes a global dialogue in the study of the management of reception facilities for refugees, through the presentation of its research results, its publications, its news, the organisation of an international academic conference in 2021, and a photo exhibition.
